B Key is a UK drum and bass producer, also known for working under the name Kosmos with Dylan. He starts out listening to electro and hip hop in the mid-1980s, then becomes involved in the breakdance scene and competes in dance competitions alongside Dylan.

Early involvement in rave culture and radio

By 1989 and 1990, he is going to raves such as Biology, Energy, Raindance and Telepathy, as well as regular club nights at Camden Palace and Orange. In 1992, he begins playing a regular weekly set on a pirate radio station called Raw FM, which later becomes Rude FM 88.2. He still plays that slot on Sundays from 6pm to 8pm.

Production and releases

Production follows naturally from his early scene involvement. In 1994, he and Dylan release their first track on Droppin Science Vol. 9 under the name Kosmos. He then releases music on Biotic, XXX, Cylon, Outbreak, Invader and Spectrum Audio, and also produces remix work for Moving Shadow.

Performances and other uses

B Key plays across London and Europe and tours the United States several times, with appearances in cities including Chicago, Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Some of his tracks are also used in television commercials on the Paramount Channel and Bravo.

Labels and later plans

He is associated with plans to start his own label, Waveform Recordings, and with further releases on Freak Recordings, Musica, Outbreak, Renegade Hardware, Biotic and XXX.
