B. Bravo

B. Bravo is the stage name of L.A.-based musician, producer and DJ Adam Mori. He makes electronic music that draws on funk, R&B, hip hop and dance styles, with a sound shaped by California G-funk, Roy Ayers and Herbie Hancock. He is associated with the modern funk scene and works across club-oriented, alternative R&B, electronic and nu disco territory.

Career

Bravo is a founding member of the San Francisco-based Frite Nite label and crew, and he is described as a force in the wider modern funk movement. His track “Computa Love” gains attention as one of Benji B’s selections for BBC 1Xtra in 2009 and later appears as the lead track on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Electr*c compilation in 2010.

He is selected to take part in Red Bull Music Academy’s London programme in 2010, and continues to be connected with the academy as an alumnus. As a performer, he uses synths, vocoder and talkbox in both DJ and live sets. He shares stages with Chromeo, Dam-Funk and Flying Lotus, and performs at festivals including SXSW, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Sonar in Barcelona.

Releases and collaborations

In 2011, Bravo releases the Kiss 'n' Tell EP on Earnest Endeavours, described as his third solo release. He also forms a live band called The Starship Connection with fellow San Francisco musician Teeko. The two work on a collaboration EP for Frite Nite and also create an official remix for Mark Ronson featuring D'Angelo.
