Axwell

Axwell is a Swedish house DJ, record producer and remixer from Lund, Sweden. He is also known as Axel Hedfors. He is one third of Swedish House Mafia, alongside Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello, and is also a member of Supermode and Axwell Λ Ingrosso.

Early work

Axwell begins making music in his childhood and starts playing drums at the age of nine. At thirteen, he trades his drum kit for a computer so he can work with all the instruments himself. He releases acid techno between 1995 and 1997 under the name Quazar (of Sanxion), using Fasttracker 2, and appears in the intro of Hybrid’s crack for the computer game Worms 1. During this period he also enters music competitions, including the demo party Hype in southern Sweden.

Solo career and notable tracks

He rises to wider attention in the mid-2000s as a solo act. His track Feel the Vibe becomes a club hit in Europe and is later re-released with vocals, reaching number 16 in the UK. Other well-known recordings include Watch the Sunrise. He also remixes Hard-Fi’s Hard to Beat and Roger Sanchez’s Turn on the Music.
