Axiom is the name used by a Swiss drum and bass producer and by several unrelated acts in other genres. The Swiss artist is the entry relevant to drum and bass, neurofunk and drum n bass.

Axiom enters the drum and bass scene in 2005 after meeting Optiv of C4C at a party and being invited to collaborate. Their first release together is the track “Nightfalls”, issued on Optiv’s Redlight Recordings. A second collaboration with Optiv and Chris. Su, “Soulcube”, follows and receives support from major names in the scene.

Axiom’s production draws on ambient and experimental electronic music and is described as combining those elements into heavy dancefloor-focused drum and bass. The artist’s material appears on labels including Renegade Hardware, Cyanide Recordings, State Of Mind Music, Shadow Law, Hostile Recordings, DSCI4, Redlight Recordings, Syndrome and Citrus. These releases connect the project with labels in New Zealand, the UK and the USA as well as one of drum and bass’s major imprints.

As a live act, Axiom plays a rolling selection of fresh drum and bass with an emphasis on neurofunk and techstep, using fast mixing and cuts. The project also draws regular attention through internet mixes and live appearances.

Another Axiom is a UK one-man project run by Hrothgar. Its first demo, Defiant Heathen Spirit, appears in 2005 and includes a cover of Mayhem’s “Funeral Fog”. Its sound is described as aggressive and melodic, with references to Burzum, Mayhem and Emperor.
