Awen Ensemble are a Leeds-based collective working in alternative folk jazz. The group takes its name from the Welsh word “awen”, meaning “poetic inspiration”, which reflects the intention behind its music.

The ensemble’s work explores folkloric heritage, landscape and the human mind, with the aim of prompting reflection and connection with those subjects. Its sound sits within jazz and jazz fusion, with a folk-influenced approach.
