Away with the Faeries
Away with the Faeries is a name used by more than one project. One is the experimental work of English musician Gareth I. Davies, whose music draws on metal, ambient, alternative rock, industrial, electronica, orchestral and progressive styles. Under this name, Davies releases the albums Don't Listen To The Static and Glowing Burning Slowly Softly, and also issues the single MineFuckr. The project also has official profiles on Myspace, Facebook and ReverbNation.
Another Away with the Faeries is a contemporary folk band formed in 2009. This group plays across London, the south east and further afield, and its line-up is sometimes expanded with electric guitar and double bass. The band describes its music as ethereal, humorous and occasionally sardonic, and its live performances include cowbells and a strong emphasis on character and energy.
The folk group has appeared at venues including the Jazz Cafe and the 100 Club, supports The Blockheads regularly, and joins them on their 35th Anniversary Tour. It also works with the psychedelic folk band Spirogyra and appears at the Great British Folk Festival, where Donovan is also on the bill.
