Awake By Design

Awake By Design are a heavy rock band formed in the South West of the UK in late 2007. The project begins with Adrian Powell on vocals and Toby Stewart on guitar, with an approach that combines catchy vocal and guitar melodies with classical, synthpop and 1980s rock elements. Their sound also sits within gothic metal and gothic rock territory.

Releases

The band self-releases its debut album, Sentiment, in 2009. Greg Chandler of Esoteric records it, and Karl Groom of Dragonforce and Threshold produces it. The album receives praise from fans and from music magazines and webzines, including scores of 9/10 from Powerplay and Metal.de, and 4.5/6 from Zero Tolerance.

Line-up and later activity

After a series of line-up changes, the band starts work on a second album, Carve The Sun, in 2012. It is later planned for release through LMC Records in three EP parts. A later line-up includes Adrian Powell on all vocals, Dave Favill on bass guitar, Dave Roelofs on drums and percussion, Luke Hatton and Luke Smith on lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars, and Janson Sissons on keyboards and piano.
