Avi Buffalo

Avi Buffalo is an indie pop and indie rock group from Long Beach, United States, led by songwriter and guitarist Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg. The band also includes Sheridan Riley.

Career

Zahner-Isenberg begins writing and recording songs at home on his computer while in 10th grade, and brings a full electric band together at the start of junior year. The group plays a number of local shows in Long Beach before being invited to perform in Los Angeles. After that, Zahner-Isenberg starts recording songs with Aaron Embry, and these sessions help shape the band’s first record.

The group signs to Sub Pop Records in late 2009 and releases its self-titled debut album in 2010. In 2011, Zahner-Isenberg records two songs at home in Long Beach and issues the single “How Come/Good I’m Wishing” on Sub Pop. The band then tours in the summer and returns home to write and record material for a second album.

On 27 January 2015, Zahner-Isenberg announces that he is ending the band.

Style

The band’s music combines several genres, with prominent guitar work and lyrics that are often ambiguous.
