Autophase

Autophase is an electronic music duo from North Yorkshire consisting of Tom Collingburn and Peter Kipling. The pair work in techno, electro, glitchy house and deep, funky house, and emerge from the underground electronic scene in the North of England.

Career

In January 2007, DJ Mag names Autophase its “Pick and Mix” top pick, highlighting the quality of their own productions. Their debut production, Tin Foil, is signed to Global Underground for use on the Afterhours Ibiza compilation. By February, their first EP, The Alloy EP, is signed to New York label Digiprana Records, and later in 2007 their second EP, Bubble wrap EP, is taken by Curfew Records, the label run by King Unique.

Recognition and performances

Autophase are described by IDJ Magazine as “Ones to watch” in summer 2007. Their work also brings them broader exposure, including an appearance on Sky TV discussing their production and career. As live performers, they play club dates in northern England, including Bleep in Manchester alongside Claude VonStroke, Tribal Sessions at Sankeys in Manchester with Plump DJs, and a performance at Middlesbrough’s Empire alongside Above & Beyond.

Style and collaborations

The duo are associated with underground, club-oriented electronic music and are linked in the input with remix work for major labels and artists, as well as a growing set of bookings and releases.
