Autechre

Autechre are an electronic music duo from Rochdale, England. The group consists of Sean Booth and Rob Brown and has been active since 1991. They are signed to Warp and are associated with ambient techno, avant-garde, drill and bass, electronic, electronica and experimental music, as well as IDM.

Style and development

The duo’s music is known for complex rhythm, driving percussion and detailed sequencing. Their later work becomes increasingly experimental and abstract, while their early 1990s releases are more conventional and more suited to club settings. Their sound develops from the pair’s early interest in electro and hip-hop mixtapes into original compositions built with inexpensive equipment, including a Casio SK-1 sampler.
