Audioweb

Audioweb is a Manchester group active from 1991 to 1999. It forms under the name The Sugar Merchants and later takes the name Audioweb. The lineup includes Martin Merchant, Sean McCann, Robin File and Robert Maxfield.

The group plays a blend of rock, reggae and electronica, and is also associated with classic pop and rock. It has two UK top 40 singles: “Policeman Skank...(The Story Of My Life)” and “Bankrobber”, a version of a Clash song.

Sean McCann later lives in New York City and writes a musical, while Maxfield plays with Ian Brown. Martin “Sugar” Merchant later fronts the band SupaJamma.
