Audiobooks

Audiobooks is a project formed by producer David Wrench and Evangeline Ling, who is a Goldsmiths student. The pair create pop music with dark, heavy elements, and their work is associated with experimental, electronic, indie pop and spoken-word styles.

Their track Gothenburg is presented as an early introduction to the project. It is described as being written and recorded on the first day they spend time together after meeting by chance the previous night, and it reflects the start of their creative friendship.

The song features synthesiser parts and industrial-style bass, with Ling using singing, whispering and growling vocals. Her delivery carries the story through the track and gives it a tense, shadowed feel.
