Audio is Gareth Greenall, a drum and bass producer and DJ from the United Kingdom. He works in darkstep, drum and bass, electronic and neurofunk, and is associated with RAM Records. He is also linked with the aliases and project names Resonant Evil and Pixel Fist.

Background

Greenall first encounters electronic music in the early 1990s through the Colin Dale and Colin Favour radio shows on Kiss 100. He is drawn in by the Virus Recordings release Wormhole and then moves into DJing, buying records and mixing. He begins playing at illegal raves around London before moving into production work.

After a chance meeting, he receives software including Acid 1.0 and Reason 1.0, which leads to a significant change in his approach to making music. He starts releasing tracks and builds a reputation under the Audio name.

Releases and projects

Audio becomes the main producer behind Resonant Evil and goes on to release music on labels including Renegade Hardware, G2, Outbreak and Moving Shadow. He also works with G2 (UK) and later joins the Freak / Anger Management / Therapy Sessions scene, concentrating on solo material.

His solo output includes the 12-inch single Warehouse / Destroyed on Freak Recordings, the debut EP Designed for War, a track called Missing on Subtitles, a remix of Technical Itch & Jakes’ Retribution, and a remix of BSE’s The Cooler.

DJ work

He tours across Europe and is a resident at the Therapy Sessions events worldwide. His style is described as a twisted, techy form of dark drum and bass, and his releases are associated with dance floors across the UK and Europe.
