Astpai

Astpai is a hardcore punk and punk rock group from Wiener Neustadt, Austria. Active since 2002, the band has a melodic but hard-edged sound that draws on punk rock and hardcore, with influences including Paint It Black, Kid Dynamite, None More Black, From Ashes Rise, Aus-Rotten and Choking Victim/Leftover Crack, while avoiding the ska element associated with some of those bands.

The group’s music combines sing-along melodies with a heavy rock-oriented hardcore punk style and strongly political lyrics. It presents itself as direct and outspoken rather than using shallow slogans.

Astpai releases three full-length records and a split CD with Attack! Vipers! on the UK label We Heart Records. It is also signed to various punk rock labels in Europe and to Jumpstart Records in the United States.

The group’s line-up includes Bernhard, Marco, Toni, Zock, Alex, Raynay and Wimair.
