Ashton

Ashton is an alternative rock band from Reno, Nevada, in the United States. The group forms in South Reno in 2002 and begins as a five-piece pop-punk act, with early comparisons to bands such as The Ataris and The Starting Line. Over time, Ashton develops into a more concise indie rock band with a calculated, pop-influenced sound.

Style and influences

Ashton’s music draws on a range of alternative and melodic rock influences, including Recover, Jimmy Eat World, Radiohead and Hot Rod Circuit. The band is associated with hard rock, AOR, melodic rock and alternative rock as well as its original pop-punk and indie rock roots.

Line-up

The line-up changes several times during the band’s development, with a number of bass, drum and guitar changes. The members listed are Kraig Morgan on lead vocals and guitar, Vinnie Gravallese on lead guitar, Mike McAnally on bass, and Andrew Garcia on drums.

Career and live activity

Ashton builds a strong following in Reno and across the west coast, and the band performs with acts including Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Hellogoodbye, the Mad Caddies, Branston, Halifax, Park, The Stereo, Copeland, Mae, Openhand, Punchline, The Rx Bandits and The Higher. The group has two releases and completes three west-coast tours.
