Asal

Asal is the performing name of Salvatore Angelucci, a solo artist with an alt-pop and alternative hip hop sound. The project is associated with Italy. Asal grows up in a musical environment in Iran, where both parents have musical experience: the father plays keyboards and the mother sings. At the age of seven, Asal receives a first guitar.

Asal later moves to Vancouver while speaking only Farsi and mainly listening to Persian music. English develops through school and through listening to new music, and this period helps shape a personal style and original sound. Working from a bedroom setup, Asal combines deep, raw vocals with alternative hip hop production.

Asal completes a first North American tour supporting Artemas and prepares a first EP. The project also releases the tracks Headache and Liars & Players as part of its ongoing output.
