Aruba Red is a solo artist based in the UK, originally from Stuttgart, United Kingdom. She works across reggae, dub, acoustic, soul, hip hop, dubstep, tribal, electronic and experimental styles.
Her music is associated with political and social themes. She describes herself as a rebellious artist and writes about consumerism, war, globalisation and traditional power structures.
Aruba Red releases music independently. Her self-titled album appears in 2008 and is featured in an iTunes “Best of 2008 so Far” selection later that year.
Collaborations
She collaborates with Jah Mason on the track “Struggling”, which reaches the top 10 playlist on Irie FM in Jamaica in 2008. She also appears with Nitin Sawhney on “Last Train to Midnight”, from Sawhney’s eighth album London Undersound.
Other collaborations include work with Jah Cure on “Light Up Light Up” and material with dub producer Mad Professor.
Touring and live appearances
Aruba Red tours with artists including Natty and Fat Freddy’s Drop. She also opens for Soul II Soul at Wembley Arena.
