Artful

Artful is the solo project of Mark Hill, a producer and writer from Cornwall. He is formally associated with the duo Artful Dodger, whose other member, Pete Devereux, records as DEVolution. Hill releases music through Mark Hill Productions.

Work as Artful Dodger and key tracks

Under the Artful Dodger name, Hill is linked with UK garage from the late 1990s and the 2000/2001 period. He is credited as a writer and producer on tracks including “Re-Rewind”, “Fill Me In” with Craig David, and “Movin’ Too Fast” with Romina Johnson. The album It’s All About The Stragglers is identified as a major release in that earlier phase of his career.

Artful as a solo project

As Artful, Hill says the music covers a broad range of genres, while keeping an attachment to 2-step rhythms. The project continues the name of his earlier work but extends beyond the UK garage sound most closely associated with Artful Dodger.
