Arkona

Arkona is a Polish black metal group from Kępno, active since 1993. It is associated with black metal and pagan black metal, and it is listed alongside Slavic pagan metal, folk metal and Russian music in broader references to artists with the same name.

History and lineup

The group forms in 1993 and remains active. The only named member given is Zaala.

Recordings

Its early releases include two demos, The Unholy War and Born to Die, both from 1993. The band then releases the full-length albums Imperium in 1996, Zeta Reticuli: A Tale About Hatred And Total Enslavement in 2001, Nocturnal Arkonian Hordes in 2002, and Konstelacja Lodu in 2003.

Context

The name Arkona is also used by other acts, including a Russian Slavic pagan folk metal band, a Czech hard rock band, and an ambient project from Poland. In this case, Arkona refers to the Polish black metal band.
