Arkangel

Arkangel is a heavy metal band from Valencia, Venezuela, originally formed as Power Age in 1977. Fronted by vocalist Paul Gillman, the group becomes one of the most influential acts in Venezuelan metal and helps lead the country’s heavy metal scene during the 1980s.

The band’s early recording history includes its first album in 1981, followed by Rock Nacional in 1982 and Represion Latinoamericana in 1983. Gillman leaves the group in 1984 to pursue a solo career and is replaced by Mickey Tedeschi. The lineup changes several times over the years, and the band’s output remains limited relative to its long history, with only two albums appearing across two decades.

Arkangel issues the single La Respuesta in 1987 and later No Más Aparencias in 1992, the same year it releases Inmortal. Other releases include El Angel de la Muerte in 2000 and MMVII in 2008. A reunion tour takes place in 2005 to mark the band’s 30-year anniversary, with most of the original members involved and guest appearances from Dio and Paul Di'Anno.

The name Arkangel is also used by several other bands, including an edge metal band from Brussels, Belgium; a Christian progressive rock band associated with the album Warrior; a metal band from Paraguay; and a Christian metal band from Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
