Appleblim is the recording name of Laurie Osborne, a British electronic artist from Bristol. He first appears as a member of The Monsoon Bassoon, a group that earns two NME Singles of the Week in the late 1990s before disbanding after one member leaves.
After the group ends, Osborne works in a record shop while exploring new music. He becomes involved with the emerging dubstep scene and, with Shackleton, makes unusual tracks that sit at the edges of the genre. These recordings are described as brittle and metallic, and they are closely associated with the Skull Disco label, where Appleblim appears alongside Shackleton’s similarly unconventional productions.
He is identified with dubstep, dub and electronic music, and is also associated with house. His work is part of the UK underground club and bass music environment, and his name is linked to Wrecked Lightship.
