Apostles

Apostles is a name used by several different acts. The best-documented one here is an all-white soul and funk band formed in St. Louis, Missouri in 1967. The group is active from 1967 and later ends. Another act using the same name is The Apostles, an Afrobeat and highlife band that is popular in Nigeria during the 1970s and releases several LPs; it is also known as “The Apostles of Aba”.

The St. Louis Apostles form in 1967 as an all-white soul and funk group. Its origin is St. Louis, and it is the act identified with the date range 1967–ended.

Other acts using the name

One Apostles project is a solo recording name used by Tom from Hereford, England, who describes his music as “icy art-psych”. Another is an early-1990s Los Angeles band featuring Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford, Charlie Colin and Bret Everett; Hotchkiss later co-founds Train.

Afrobeat and highlife group

The Apostles are also identified as a Nigerian Afrobeat and highlife band that is popular in the 1970s and releases several LPs. This group is referred to as The Apostles of Aba.
