Antelope

Antelope is an American indie rock band formed in Washington, DC in 2001 by former members of Vertebrates, Bee Elvy and Mike Andre, together with Justin Moyer of El Guapo. The group’s sound is described as meditative, stripped-down punk, built around a contrast between melody and repetition.

Releases and recording

In March 2002, Antelope records six songs with Phil Manley of Trans Am at National Recording Studios. Their self-titled EP follows in February 2003, issued jointly by Dischord and the band’s own Bug Records. The two-song EP Crowns b/w The Flock is recorded in July 2003 at Inner Ear Studios with Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara, and appears in February 2004. In November 2006, the band records its first full-length album, Reflector, at the Dischord House with Ian MacKaye.

Live activity

Antelope plays its first regional shows in eastern and midwestern US cities, tours the United States with Q and not U and Black Eyes in September 2003, and continues regional touring with Joe Lally and Soccer Team. The band also undertakes a full US tour in March 2007.
