Anstam

Anstam is a German electronic act that begins as a duo of brothers, Jan and Lars Stöwe, and continues as Lars Stöwe alone. The project is associated with dubstep, IDM, bass music and techno, and is known for combining harsh dubstep, grime and jungle influences with a tightly structured techno approach.

Early releases

The act builds its reputation through a trilogy of 12-inch releases in 2007 and 2009: Aeto, Brom and Cree. These records establish the project’s dark, rhythmic style and its connection to Berlin-influenced techno sensibilities.

Albums

In 2011, Lars Stöwe releases Anstam’s debut album, dispel dances, on 50weapons, the sublabel of Monkeytown. The album includes one collaboration with Jan Stöwe on the track black friesian monoliths, while the other tracks are produced by Lars alone. A second album, stones and woods, also appears on 50weapons.
