Annotations of an Autopsy

Annotations of an Autopsy are a British extreme metal group from Lowestoft, England, active between 2006 and 2013. Their sound is described as deathcore, with influences drawn from death metal and other heavy styles, and their listed genres include brutal death metal, death metal, deathcore and metalcore.

Style and influences

The group is influenced by Morbid Angel, Decapitated, Devourment, Deeds of Flesh, Crowbar and Pantera. Their earlier material is associated with deathcore, while The Reign of Darkness moves towards a more traditional death metal approach before the group returns to a more deathcore style on Dark Days.

Releases

The band releases two albums and two EPs during its active years. These are the EP Welcome to Sludge City (2007), the album Before the Throne of Infection (2008), the album The Reign of Darkness (2010) and the EP Dark Days (2011). The Reign of Darkness appears on Nuclear Blast.

Tours and reception

Annotations of an Autopsy tours internationally with acts including Suffocation, Job for a Cowboy, Hate Eternal, Despised Icon, Suicide Silence, The Acacia Strain, Vital Remains, Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus. The group is also described by Metal Hammer as the first UK death metal band to make a dent in the worldwide metal market since Carcass. Their releases help them build a large international following.
