Angles

Angles is a Swedish jazz sextet from Sweden. The group comprises Johan Berthling on bass, Kjell Nordeson on drums, Magnus Broo on trumpet, Martin Küchen on alto saxophone, Mats Äleklint on trombone and Mattias Ståhl on vibraphone.

Style and recording

The group works in free jazz and avant-garde jazz, with music that crosses between newer and older improvising approaches. Its sound is associated with extended techniques and abstract, textural playing, while still remaining rooted in free jazz.

Releases

Angles releases Every Woman is a Tree on Clean Feed in 2008. The record is described as free jazz with a post-bop element, drawing on contributions from some of the leading players on the Scandinavian jazz scene.
