Angels Of Liberty is a UK gothic rock group from the United Kingdom, associated with alternative rock, gothic, gothic rock and post-punk. The band is described as a new old skool goth act and forms around Scarlet Powers, who is listed as a member. Its original line-up includes Voe Saint-Clare on vocals and synths, Scarlet Powers on vocals and synths, and Echo Von Hammer on machine drums.

Background

The group forms in 2011. Its members draw on the sound and style of second wave goth and cite influences including Nosferatu, Bauhaus and The Sisters of Mercy. Before creating the band’s own material, they spend years researching the scene through extensive club-going and following goth rock acts in the UK during the 1990s. Their early image includes the reference points of worn-out winklepickers and moth-eaten frock coats.

Releases and live activity

Angels Of Liberty’s debut album, Pinnacle Of The Draco, is released in 2012 and includes new material, demos and previously unavailable tracks. Their first appearance at WGW 2012 is cancelled after Voe suffers a biking accident around the time of the album’s release.
