Angel Snow is an American singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. She grows up in Chickamauga, Georgia, and later settles in Nashville after spending several years travelling and performing across the United States, including in New York, Wyoming, Montana, Pennsylvania, California, Chattanooga and Atlanta.

Background

Snow develops an early interest in writing while in primary school, when a third-grade homework assignment leads her to write several poems and gives her an early sense of direction. Songwriting becomes her main creative outlet, which she describes as a way of understanding herself. She begins playing guitar at 15 and starts setting music to lyrics she has written over the years. During high school, she performs in talent competitions and in any other setting available to her.

Style and songwriting

Her music combines classic Americana folk with a modern edge, and her songs draw on personal experience as well as vivid dreams. Her performances are marked by emotional delivery and introspective writing. She also says she wants her music to connect with people in vulnerable moments and to reach listeners who feel scarred.

Release

Snow’s debut album is Fortune Tellers.

Influences

She grows up around a broad range of music through her brothers, who introduce her to old folk, classical music, Faith No More and The Cure. Snow names Leonard Cohen, Robert Smith, Thom Yorke, Otis Redding and Elliott Smith among the artists she likes.
