Andy Smith is a DJ and turntablist associated with funk, soul, reggae and hip hop. He builds a long-running reputation through club appearances and resident nights in several cities, including The Document Live Sessions at Cargo in London, Northern Soul/Freestyle Mix Sessions at Jazz Café in London, Lost and Found at Madame Jo Jos with Keb Darge, Tamla Tuesdays at The Big Chill Bar, The Button Factory in Dublin, and Dachstock in Bern, Switzerland.

Work with Portishead

Smith provides sample material for Portishead on their first two albums, reflecting his interest in digging for breaks and hip hop scratching. He becomes the band’s international tour DJ and also handles an edition of BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix broadcast under the Portishead name.
