Andy Piacentini is a Glasgow DJ associated with chill funk, lounge, underground disco and leftfield dance music. He spends time in Glasgow DJ booths and builds a reputation in the city’s underground disco scene.
Style and influences
His sets move across underground dance music, including leftfield disco, electro, early 1990s hardcore, Italo, boogie, techno and the deeper side of house music. His interests also include a retrospective love of proto-house and a long-standing knowledge of older dance music. As a young listener in 1988, he follows the emerging rave scene through local pirate radio and Jeff Young on Fridays, which gives him an extensive understanding of old-school dance sounds.
Career in Glasgow
Piacentini is active in Glasgow over a period of more than a decade and develops a reputation as one of the leading figures in the city’s underground disco scene. He holds successful residencies at Dance!Dance!Dance!, Deaf Monkey and disco not disco parties.
Notable appearances
He also warms up for Todd Terje, Grieg Wilson and Mark E, which adds to his standing as a distinctive DJ in Glasgow.
