Andrew Pirie

Andrew Pirie is a Glasgow DJ associated with the Traxx and Melting Pot nights. He begins DJing in 1999, after helping to form Traxx the previous year, and goes on to hold a four-year residency at Traxx at the Soundhaus.

His style develops across several strands of dance music, with a particular interest in disco. He is also involved in the organisation of Melting Pot from 2001 and becomes a resident there in 2006. Between those roles, he also holds residencies at Second Nature and at Together, a Melting Pot offshoot.

Melting Pot is Scotland’s first disco-based club night and influences a number of later imitators. Pirie remains a driving force behind it, with the event continuing for several years as an established fixture. Alongside his DJ work, he is part of the Traxx organisation, which brings underground house and disco artists to Glasgow, including Joe Claussell, Danny Krivit, François K, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Stacey Pullen and David Mancuso, as well as Public Enemy.
