Andrew Backhouse

Andrew Backhouse is a British sound artist and field recordist from King's Lynn and Harrogate, born in 1981. He works as an electronic musician across experimental music, ambient sound and dub, and his recordings are built from outdoor sounds, synthesisers and studio production. Birdsong, environmental textures and found sounds appear alongside slow drones, tape loops and shifting rhythms.

Projects and aliases

He records under several names, including Green Door Studio, Thomas Rabies, Andrew Backhouse, Chairman Wow!, Andy Biscuit and Forward! For Noise. He also appears in АКБ, Allan & Andrew, Green Door Studio and AAMac. Each project takes a different approach, while still emphasising mood, texture and a strong sense of place.
