Andrea Belfi

Andrea Belfi is an Italian musician, born in 1979, known for work that combines acoustic percussion with electronic elements. He builds music around a relatively small drum kit and a compact electronics setup, using a Saari drum-kit from Finland alongside a Nord modular and sampler.

Style and approach

Belfi’s sound draws on the relationship between drums and electronics, with a focus on acoustic timbre and the blending of rhythmic and electronic textures. His work on Ore is described as a clear synthesis of these two elements.

Performances and collaborations

He is noted for energetic, charismatic live performances, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other musicians. He tours with Nonkeen, the German trio led by Nils Frahm, and appears at London’s Barbican Centre in a performance marked by an extended drum solo.
