Analogik
Analogik are an experimental group from Aarhus, Denmark, active since 2002. They begin as a small local secret among DJs and nu jazz listeners, first appearing on two short EPs issued only on 10-inch vinyl through Auditory Designs. Their sound resists simple classification and draws on jazz, dub, electronica, funk, bossa nova and tango.
Formation and line-up
The band settles as a quartet and adds guest musicians for its first full-length cycle. Jazz brings the members together as a band in 2004. The line-up includes Asger Strandby, who plays turntables with scratch effects, uses a laptop and triggers electronic beats; Jesper Kobberø, who plays guitar, flute and air organ; Theis Bror on saxophone; and Magnus Damgaard on bass. The verified membership also identifies Jesper Kobberø as a member.
Style
Analogik’s music combines different backgrounds and is described as difficult to place in one genre. Its material includes precise, relaxed saxophone, strong bass lines, melodic guitar, and electronic elements, with influences ranging across the global village of styles the group draws together.
