Amongst the Pigeons

Amongst the Pigeons is an electronic project based in Brighton. It appears in early 2005 and is associated with IDM and sample-based beat making, with a sound described through loops, beats and layered electronic textures.

Releases and airplay

The project’s early release is the EP wings wings: beat, which includes the tracks “Firefly” and “la la la la la laa song”. These tracks receive radio play from Rob Da Bank on Radio 1 and also appear on XFM, Juice, WCRfm and Radio Reverb. The project later completes a first full-length album, Music to brush your teeth to, finished in summer 2008. That album contains 18 tracks and includes contributions from Frank Turner, Beans on Toast and Debbie Clare, a vocalist for Massive Attack.

Live work, remixes and collaborations

Since 2006, Amongst the Pigeons undertakes DJ slots and remixes for Brighton acts including Miss Pain, Largo and End of Level Baddie. Its music also appears on XFM, BBC Radio 6 Music and Mary Anne Hobbs’s experimental show. At the time described in the text, the project is seeking a label for the full-length album.
