Amity

Amity is a United Kingdom-based artist associated with post-hardcore, punk, emo, alternative rock and screamo. The name is used by several different acts, including a Wolverhampton-born one-woman project by Amy Forrester, also described as AMiTY.

Another British act with the same name is a folk band formed in 1971. That group begins with Colin Webb on vocals and guitar, Judy Webb on vocals and autoharp, Dave King on bass, Grahame Limmer on drums, Roger Leigh on lead guitar, and John Field on fiddle, mandolin and accordion. Dave Dilloway later replaces Dave King on bass, and the line-up continues playing extensively until around 1978. All members contribute vocals, and the repertoire combines traditional and contemporary songs with original material.

Recordings and line-ups

The folk band releases a limited self-titled album in 1976. Later musicians linked to that line-up include Vince Salisbury and Steve Holley on drums, Russ Brown on bass, Dave Jeffrey on guitar and mandolin, Pete Morrison on guitar, and John Danter on guitar.

A separate American band with the same name, from Los Angeles, California, releases Internecine in 2006 on Negative Progression Records, with Joe Sherman, Evan Smith, Javier Ramos, Calvin Pflieger and Thomas Zamorano in the line-up.

Amity is also the name of a Swedish band formed in 2018 and a Canadian vocaloid artist known as Amity or AmityP.
