Amit is a drum and bass producer from the United Kingdom, also known as Amit Kamboj. His work draws on a wide range of influences, including dub, techno, rave, traditional Indian music, Joy Division and Arabian sounds. He is associated with the label AMAR and is tagged across drum and bass, dubstep, halfstep, electronic and drumfunk, although drum and bass is the core genre identified for him.

Music

Amit is known in the drum and bass scene for releases on Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, Function and Bingo. His productions are described as combining different strands of electronic music with Indian musical elements, creating a dense, atmospheric sound.

Collaborations and other work

He works with Bill Laswell and contributes to Laswell’s productions. Outside music, he is a father of six, an award-winning community trust action worker and a trained sushi chef. He is also a keen dog keeper and was once a close friend of Barbara Woodhouse.
