Amirali is a UK-based producer, singer-songwriter and live instrumentalist originally from Iran. He is known for work in dance, deep house, electronica and house, and releases on Dark Matters.

Background

Amirali Shahrestani grows up in Tehran and begins piano lessons at the age of five. His early musical interests come from his father’s record collection, which introduces him to classical music, jazz, blues and rock and roll. He later studies architecture before moving from Iran to Toronto as a teenager and then to London, where he is based.

Career

His music career develops after he transfers his architecture studies to London in 2010, when his wider musical ability becomes more widely noticed. His debut single, My Way, appears on Damian Lazarus’ compilation Get Lost 4. He follows this with Beautiful World, a single that becomes one of his better-known releases, and the album In Time.
