AMD
AMD is a name used by more than one act. One is a Hungarian hardcore punk group active from 1987 to 1993. Another is a psychedelic trance collaboration between Jules Hamer, also known as Aphid Moon, and Dick Trevor, also known as Dickster.
Hungarian hardcore punk group
The Hungarian AMD is a hardcore punk group from Hungary. It is active between 1987 and 1993.
Psychedelic trance collaboration
As a psytrance project, AMD brings together Aphid Moon and Dickster, both of whom work as producers and engineers across psychedelic trance. Dick Trevor begins his work in the early 1990s and first makes an impact with trance releases by Green Nuns Of The Revolution, a group associated with the full-on scene in the mid-1990s. He also works on the Green Ohm album around the turn of the millennium, later records as Jumanji with Eskimo, and releases music as Dickster, alongside collaborations with Simon Posford and Tristan.
Jules Hamer develops his style over a similar period. He starts out in the early 1990s as a promoter for a psytrance night, then moves into DJing and producing chill-out and full-on psytrance. He releases early solo material as Aphid Moon before the millennium, then issues his first solo album, High Diver, on Dragonfly Records, including the track “Disco Biscuit”. He goes on to release material on British and overseas psytrance labels and collaborates with Tristan, DJ Lucas, Laughing Buddha, and Hydrophonic and Protoculture from Nano.
