Amanda Wilson is a singer from Peckham, United Kingdom, known for her work with the UK house act the Freemasons and for guest vocals on dance records.

Career

Wilson is associated with the Freemasons, for whom she provides lead vocals on a number of tracks from the album Shakedown. She scores two major UK hit singles with the act, and one of them also appears in several European charts and on the Billboard Dance Chart.

Her biggest hit is the Freemasons single Love On My Mind, which reaches number 11 in the UK Top 40. The track samples Jackie Moore’s This Time Baby and uses lyrics from Tina Turner’s When The Heartache Is Over; Wilson’s vocals are electronically lowered in pitch to sit with the sampled material.

She also sings on the Freemasons remix of Gusto’s Disco's Revenge, which becomes her third UK Top 40 hit and peaks at number 33. Other Freemasons tracks on which she provides lead vocals include Watchin' and I Feel Like.

Earlier work and wider collaborations

Before her dance-music work becomes established, Wilson provides lead vocals on When We Were In Love, a song that reaches the semi-final of The Great British Song Contest 1998, which selects the UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. She is also said to have first attracted attention from music industry A&R through self-written Mariah Carey-style ballads.

Wilson has a four-octave vocal range, and her singing is compared with Mariah Carey. Much of her later work is as a guest vocalist for dance acts rather than as a solo performer.

Her other credited collaborations include tracks with Glamour Katz, A. Lee, Raw, Night Drive, Wawa & Herd, Daytone, Mr Fix It, Loveless, Soulcatcher and Outsiders. Her vocals on Outsiders’ Keep This Fire Burning give her another UK chart entry.

Solo release

Wilson also releases the solo track Spin It Again in 2009.
