History

The group appears in November 2002 with a self-titled debut album on Jabalina Música. It begins as a trio and later expands to a quintet. The line-up at that stage includes the brothers Borja and Javier Sánchez on guitars and vocals, Jon Intxausti on drums, Yon Vidaur on keyboards and programming, and Xabier Arrieta on bass, who joins after the departure of Juan Luis Etxeberría. Several of the members have also been associated with groups such as Daily Planet, La Buena Vida, El Joven Bryan and Manoukian.

Style and recordings

Ama plays pop-driven songs with simple instrumentation that supports the main melody. The writing is described as focused on emotionally direct songs in which lyrics and music work together closely. Their recorded output includes the album Ama and the second album A un metro de mí, which appears in September 2005.
