alyona alyona is the stage name of Alyona Olehivna Savranenko, a Ukrainian rapper and songwriter from Kirovohrads'ka Oblast', Ukraine. She is born in 1991 and comes from the village of Kapitanivka in Novomyrhorod Raion, Kirovohrad Oblast. Her music is described as hip hop and trap.
Early life and work
Before turning to rap, she works as a teacher at the Teremok kindergarten in Baryshivka, Kyiv Oblast, and later heads a kindergarten in the nearby village of Dernivka. She works in kindergartens for four years in total before leaving the profession after gaining wider attention. She also holds two high school diplomas, including one from the Hryhorii Skovoroda Pedagogical State University of Pereiaslav.
Music career
alyona alyona starts writing rap in the middle of the 2000s and initially performs under the name Alyona Al.kaida. Under her current alias, she releases her first video in October 2018 for the song “Rybky” and follows it with a second version of the same track later that month, directed professionally. In November 2018 she releases “Holovy”, which reaches a million views on YouTube in its first month, followed by “Vidchynyai” and then “Zalyshayu sviy dim” in December. The last of these symbolically shows her leaving Baryshivka.
In January 2019 she releases “Obitsyanki”, then in April 2019 she releases her first album, Pushka, together with a video for the title track. The album includes four previously released songs and nine new tracks, among them “Padlo”, a duet with Alina Pash. She also writes the lyrics for “Vilna”, performed by Tina Karol and Julia Sanina and included on the soundtrack to the Ukrainian film Viddana.
Recognition and performances
alyona alyona performs at Sziget Festival in Budapest in 2019. In the same year, Vogue describes her as “Ukraine's most unlikely rap star”. In February 2020 she signs with the Polish label Def Jam Polska.
