Alvin Youngblood Hart is an American musician born in 1963 in the United States. He grows up influenced by Mississippi country blues heard from older relatives, and he becomes known as a leading performer of that style.

Style and instruments

Hart’s work also reflects the guitar rock of the 1960s and 1970s, along with western swing and vintage country. His music is associated with blues and folk, and it is compared to artists including Lead Belly, Spade Cooley, Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy. He plays acoustic and electric guitar, banjo and sometimes mandolin.

Work and recognition

His recorded output includes Big Mama’s Door (1996), Territory (1998), Start With The Soul (2000), Down In The Alley (2002) and Motivational Speaker (2005). In 2005, he receives a Grammy Award for his contribution to Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster.
