Altered Natives is a British electronic music producer from north London, born in Islington and raised in Hackney. He describes his background as mixed Trinidadian and Italian heritage and says the project name reflects being born on British soil with that mixed ancestry. He is also a father of three children, all with the same mother.

Background and early life

Before making music, Altered Natives works as a backdrop painter and flyer artist. He says he spends his childhood in Hackney, leaves home at 16, and gets into trouble during his teenage years. He later moves into music after seeing a friend’s track cause a strong reaction on the dancefloor, which leads him to want to make music himself.

Music and style

He says he is influenced less by music itself than by life, love, and personal experience, and that his tracks can cross genre boundaries. He describes bass as a major part of his sound and says he produces several styles, including techno, alongside the electronic, dubstep, garage and UK funky tags associated with his work.
