Alpha Steppa

Alpha Steppa is a UK dub and reggae artist associated with Steppas Records. He is the son and nephew of Alpha & Omega, the UK dub duo active since 1990.

His debut release appears as a dubstep-meets-UK dub EP, with two bass-heavy original tracks from Alpha Steppa alongside remixes by Alpha & Omega. The originals draw on eastern zither and flute influences, while the release is aimed at sound system playback.

Alpha & Omega have worked with Greensleeves, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Jah Shaka and Gregory Isaacs, and Alpha Steppa sits within the same wider dub and steppas tradition. His music is linked to deeper new roots styles associated with labels such as Scotch Bonnet, Reggae Roast, Jahtari and Police In Helicopter.
