Alligators

Alligators are a rock band from the greater Bremerton area in Kitsap County, on the other side of Puget Sound in Washington. The group is made up of five members, all of whom have long experience in the local music scene and have played in other area bands including Time to Fly, Map of June and Arper.

Style and influences

The band does not keep to a single narrow genre, but their music is described as creative, high-energy pop with precise arrangements, strong harmonies and a clear focus on songwriting. Their sound draws on influences from artists such as Radiohead, the Beach Boys and the Zombies, and combines tight bass and drum patterns with guitar and synthesizer parts around vocal melodies. The tags associated with the band also place them within rockabilly, indie pop, rock and roll and pop-rock.

Recording and releases

Alligators release a full-length album called Piggy & Cups. It is recorded at Jason McGerr’s Two Sticks Audio in Seattle and also in the band’s own home. Drummer Kit Arper starts Applehouse Records to release the album in 2008.

The members are presented as professionally trained musicians, and the group builds on a history of local work in the Bremerton scene. Their recorded material is positioned as the main way they introduce themselves, alongside live shows and local performances.
