All That Remains

All That Remains is an American metal band from Springfield, United States. Formed in 1998, the group is active and is associated with melodic death metal, melodic metalcore, metal and metalcore. The band is led by vocalist Philip Labonte, who previously sings with Shadows Fall and earlier with Perpetual Doom.

History and releases

The band’s first album, Behind Silence And Solitude, appears in 2002. Their second album, This Darkened Heart, is produced by Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage at Zing Studios and includes the tracks “Vicious Betrayal”, “Passion” and “This Darkened Heart”, with videos also made for “This Darkened Heart”, “Tattered on My Sleeve” and “The Deepest Gray”.

The Fall of Ideals follows and becomes one of the group’s best-known releases. It includes “This Calling”, which appears on the soundtracks to Masters of Horror II and Saw III, and “The Air That I Breathe”. “Not Alone” also receives a video. Another song, “Six”, appears in Guitar Hero 2 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.

The band’s fourth album, Overcome, combines hardcore screaming and clean singing and marks a stylistic shift from earlier material.

Touring and live activity

After the first album, All That Remains tours the United States three times and plays with The Crown, Darkest Hour, As I Lay Dying, Gwar and Arch Enemy. In 2007, the group makes its first US headlining tour, with Misery Signals, The Human Abstract, Light This City and Cellador, and also appears at a New Jersey date of Sounds of the Underground. The band also releases the DVD All That Remains Live in 2007.

Line-up

Over time, the band’s members include Dan Egan, Chris Bartlett, Michael Bartlett, Oli Herbert, Philip Labonte, Matt Deis, Paul Gray, Mike Martin, Shannon Lucas, Jeanne Sagan, Jason Costa, Aaron Patrick and Jason Richardson. In the line-up listed here, Philip Labonte sings, Mike Martin plays rhythm guitar, Jason Costa plays drums, Aaron Patrick plays bass and backing vocals, and Jason Richardson plays lead guitar. Former members include Chris Bartlett on guitar, Dan Egan and Matt Deis on bass, Shannon Lucas on drums, Oli Herbert on lead guitar and Jeanne Sagan on bass. Oli Herbert dies in 2018.
