Alison Wonderland is an Australian DJ and producer whose work sits in electronic music, trap, house and pop. She has a background in indie and classical music, and her early training includes touring Europe as a principal cellist with the Sydney Youth Orchestra. She later plays bass in a successful local indie band.
Wonderland begins releasing music after signing a global deal with EMI. Her debut compilation record, Welcome to Wonderland, appears in 2012. Her first album of original material is mentioned as following that release, and her remixes help build her reputation.
Performance career
She performs widely across Australia and at international events. Her shows include the official Grammy Awards afterparty in Los Angeles, sets in Ibiza at MOS, and the Brit Awards afterparty in London. In Australia, she plays major stages at Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Southbound Festival, Stereosonic, Field Day, Parklife, Good Vibrations Festival, Harbourlife, Sydney Fashion Week, Future Music Festival, Coaster Festival and Secret Garden Festival. She also undertakes sell-out headline national tours.
Style and public profile
Her style is marked by eclecticism, shaped by her mixed background in different musical forms. One of her sets is described by Annie Mac as “the best party set I’ve heard in a long time”. The characterisation of her public image emphasises her high-energy performance style and club-focused approach.
