Alici

Alici is a name used by more than one artist. One Alici is a singer and multi-instrumentalist based in New York City with roots in Brazil. Born and raised in Belo Horizonte, she draws on Brazilian music, especially bossa nova, and frames her work as a way of introducing that style to new listeners in America and elsewhere. Her musical background includes listening to the records of Gal Costa, Tim Maia and Evinha, and she presents a sound that combines older Brazilian influences with a more contemporary approach.

Another use of the name is as an alias for Mustafa Alici, an acid trance producer. Under this name he issues more than 18 releases between 1992 and 1999, and also remixes a number of tracks as Alici. He works under many different aliases and collaborates with a range of other artists.
