Alexander McKay
Alexander McKay is a British singer-songwriter who is born in Wellington, a village in Somerset, England. He begins his musical life as a teenager, playing in bars and clubs in Birmingham. Early in his career he performs in hardcore bands influenced by Glassjaw and Deftones, and supports international acts as they tour through Europe.
During periods between tours, he listens to records and writes songs, and this leads him towards the acoustic music of The Band, Jackson Browne and Buckingham/Nicks. He shifts from a Gibson Les Paul to an acoustic J-200 and writes, produces and records the songs that make up his debut EP, Brings Us Together. The EP is released in 2015 on AWAL and is described as a road diary of time spent in Los Angeles, combining folk and rock with raspy vocals and rhythmic fingerpicking guitar.
McKay also extends his work into film, making his acting debut in the independent film Stones, a story about music, love and alcoholism. He is cast after the director and screenwriters hear him perform at a party in 2013.
